Literary Analysis
 

An analysis of English literature introduces students to the Classics while enhancing his or her ability to think creatively. Dissecting literary themes assists students in developing strong character traits while encouraging him or her to examine the human condition.  TEKS-aligned topics include but are not limited to:

  • Identifying literary forms and genres

  • Identifying and understanding themes

  • Interpreting literary techniques

  • Understanding cause and effect relationships

  • Compare and contrast cultures and time periods

  • Making inferences and drawing conclusions

  • Textual analysis

  • Journal responses

  • Rhetorical techniques

Writing Workshop

 

An intensive writing workshop that takes students on a journey of fact and fiction, as each junior editor selects a literary work for examination.  He or she will then superimpose himself or herself into the story to relive events and to retell the story from his or her perspective.  In so doing, students engage in the following:

 

  • The writing process 

  • The 6+1 Traits of writing

  • Writing news articles,

  • Develop feature stories and character profiles

  • Discover avenues for marrying the artistry found in literature and composition with the intuitive details that shape strong journalists.

Test Prep

 

All classes teach grammar, composition, and literature skills and concepts presented on popular standardized tests. Write Right University also offers courses geared specifically toward preparation for the following tests:

 

  • STAAR

  • ACT

  • SAT

  • ISEE
